Another Beat the Heat event hosted at the First Canadian Place Waterfall Stage in downtown Toronto. The Waterfall stage is ironically located next to a waterfall, where the audience can stand behind, to the sides or above looking down. Normally, these events are held during the lunch hour and crowds of business-clad people swarm for light entertainment during their normally hectic day.
Hey! Ocean is a Canadian indie folk band, normally composed of 3 band-mates but on this occasion they had 2 guest musicians. The lead singer, Ashleigh Ball, not only sings but plays the flute and tambourine, which provided the music with the ultimate indie/hippie feel you would normally expect at a summer music festival. Hey! Ocean’s light folk music was accentuated by the flute and guitar jam sessions, with each band-mate displaying their talents.
The band was fresh, young and having fun on stage which are important ingredients to a great show.
